I wish there was a way for every person to read this book because it truely touches the heart, and teaches some very important lessons. This book was a wonderful read. It will keep you turning page after page until there are no more to turn. It gives the reader a totally different insight into what life was like for someone living during WWII. I would suggest this book for anyone.
Well I'm only on chapter 9 but I am addicted! Maybe being a relative makes me biased but what an amazing book! I am the granddaughter of Edmundus (Luzijas brother) Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined they had this kind of life. Need to go start reading again! Highly recommended ! Hats off to Kay's writing abilities !!
I loved this book and read it within a couple of hours . I didnt think I would get so absorbed into the story but it was so easy to keep on reading . I felt like I was apart of this womans family. This book, it touched my heart. I will definitely be recommending this book to my friends, family and sorority sisters because I believe this is the story that they MUST read. This book should be made into a movie.Thank you Ms. Wright for sharing a your mothers life with us the readers .
For a person who does not read unless he has to, I was compelled to read this book, and I couldn't put it down. Reading this book brought out emotions that were hidden inside me for a long time. Even though I have no real connection the Luzija. I felt like she is a very important part of history and everyone needs to hear her story. The things she went through throughout her life were as amazing as they were tragic.
I rate this book with 5 stars and I'm sure you will too. Put this on the big screen and it will be a box office hit, I guarantee it.
I am not sure my review will do this book the Justice it deserves. I was afraid knowing the family might make me biased, but I can tell you this is an AMAZING story. Luzija's grandaughter is one of my best friends, and yet I never met Luzija, and found myself crying at the end of the book that I didn't have the chance to meet her. Luzija's story is moving, and at times unbelieveable, I can not imagine having the will or determination to overcome the many tragedies and obstacles Luzija experienced. I don't normally read biographies, however reading this book has helped me to see anything can be overcome. I would like to thank Kay Wright the daughter/Author for publishing her mothers story and for giving birth to one of the best people I have ever known. You will not be disappointed, a must read!
